Teeny tiny and smells so sweet.... "L" was wonderful to work with. She looks just like her big sis "M" who I got to photograph over 2 years ago. It's amazing how time flies. The best part about my job (besides these adorable newborns) is watching my family's grow.

This little man is the definition of laid-back and relaxed. He had a few moments where he clearly let us know that he was hungry and wanted to be changed.... a clear communicator, I think. And the rest of the time, completely relaxed. So wonderful to work with.

This was my last senior shoot of the year and I couldn't have picked a better senior to end the season. I think what I loved most about J was his laid-back and sweet disposistion. And, he had a style all his own that matched his personality completely. He is his own person and that was clear. I wish I had the confidence to fully be myself as a teen.

J - you have a bright future! I know you will be true to yourself and select a path fulfills you entirely. Thank you for a great session!

It was a whirlwind of circumstance to get to this photo shoot but we made it. It means the world to me to photograph our friend's children. Those first weeks with a newborn are so precious. Little "E" is the first born of our dear friends and we made the trip to Seattle to capture this time for them. Really, I think I get more out of these sessions than they do. Love you guys!

Senior....

So, this year I decided to take on a new opportunity.... Senior photos. And, I loved it! It is so much fun to photograph seniors, to chat with them about their next steps, and to remember what that time was like for me. I loved being a senior and taking the next step to collage. Oh, collage...what a great time of life that was, so many fond memories of those days. Seniors are a wonderful change and always an exciting opportunity. I have more senior posts coming up, so check back.

This is "O", an awesome guy. His Mom and little sister were with us for this session and I loved watching the relationship between the three of them. I hope I have that kind of relationship with my kids. What a great family!

I love babies and photographing them is an absolute joy. But one thing I love photographing as much as babies, is "Mom and baby". The relationship is so beautiful and natural and nurturing and sentimental and pure and, and, and.... I could go on and on. I guess being a Mom myself allows me to understand what other Mom's feel when they are holding their sweet miracle. It IS the purest form of love. I'm grateful to witness it and capture.

It's official, I'm back in action. Those last three months just flew by. I'm so excited to get back to one of my passions and, well to be honest, obsessions... that is photography. I can't wait to see all of my wonderful clients and meet the new ones.

What a way to kick-off this summer season than with "Mr. T". He is all boy with limitless energy and personality. It's amazing to me how every little boy can find the best location in a room or outside to hurdle themselves from. What is it with having to leap from every high point you come across?? And, the faces.... oh the faces..... they are tough faces. But what makes me laugh the most is there need to "crash" every toy they pick-up. I can't wait to see how ferocious my little man is going to be. I think I'm going to have to pad the house as soon as he gets the urge to sky-rocket off something.

Thank you "J" for a wonderful afternoon with your amazing little man, Mom, and sister. I had a blast playing with "T" and visiting with the three of you. (oh, and thanks for the wipes.. LOL!)

That's what we fondly refer to Natalee as... Our Snat. There is all Love in that! So, let me introduce you to Natalee, she is one of my absolute favorite people and I am honored to have her as a friend. She is raw, completely honest, hilarious, confident, kind, and she knows herself better than anyone I have ever know. I love her beautiful mind. Not to mention, she's a writer.

A few weeks ago Natalee came to visit and she asked me to take some photos of her for her website to cover the book she's writing. We had a blast, as always. We laughed, we laughed at me, we laughed at her, and we just laughed. Good times.

When I had my daughter (almost 3 years ago....yikes... I can't believe it!), I met some wonderful women at the hospital's "Mommy group". Well, we're all doing it again and having our second babies at just about the same time. Here is baby "J". She is absolutely beautiful and the only girl in the bunch. She's have all those boys under her control in no time, I'm sure of it! When I picked her up she was as light as a feather. A big difference from my big guy. I just loved holding her. I can't wait for the next one!

Congrats "H" family on a beautiful, healthy little girl.

It's been 2 months....

The last 2 months have gone by in a blur. 2 kids is A LOT more work but we are loving every minute of it..... well, almost every minute. Our toddler is definitely testing her limits, as she should. She loves her little brother!

Here's our new little man (and not so little). He is a wonderful little baby but very gasious! I have been living off bread and water for the last 2 months. I hope he appreciates it someday :). It's amazing how quickly you forget what it's like to have a newborn. All the squeeks and little noises they make, how sweet they smell (when they aren't spitting-up), and those soft little feet. I love those little piggies! In 2 months time our little man has outgorwn his 6 month clothes (yes, you read that right). He is perfect in everyway.

Snow Day

We were so excited to get "R" out to play in the snow. We got the boots, snow pants, puffy jacket, gloves, and hat. We got all the gear, suited her up, and ran outdoors for some fun in the snow. Let's just say she wasn't as excited as Mom and Dad. BUT, she did think it was really funny when Mama threw a snow ball at Daddy..... so, I threw another. I think we'll try again tomorrow.

I loved this session for all the behind the scene's action. Meet Miss "R". She is the daughter of my families hair stylist, Mama "J". We've known "J" since my mom was pregnant with me, many years. Needless to say, I've watched "R" grow up and what beauty she has become.

Mama "J" calls me and asks if I can get a picture of her daughter in her Dorthy costume with their Scottie dog. She explains that she wants an image just like the one she has of her daughter and Scottie from 7 years ago. It was a darling portrait of a sweet little girl and her puppy. Well, this little girl has grown up and has quite a few opinions herself. I show-up ready to take a traditional portrait and "R" explains she wants to go outside on the railroad tracks. And, as any 16 year old, she wants to look pretty not cute. So.....

This sweet, sweet newborn was so wonderful to work with. He is the second son of a good girlfriend of mine. I met her at Mom's group when I had my daughter. I found many wonderful friendships at Mom's group and I love every one of them. This is the first "second" child for anyone in our group, making this session very special to me. He's so sweet and squishy!

Darcie and her kiddos came out with me for an afternoon of shooting. They were gracious enough to be my Guinea pigs for the day. I wanted to get a little practice in before my September sessions and they were perfect. We played at few locations and had fun. After all was said and done, we stopped for some ice cream. I had the privilege of attending "The Secret Workshop" in Seattle with Cheryl Muhr this weekend. She is one of the top industry professionals for photography and an incredible women. She taught us a lot with so much compassion and energy. She was very warm, encouraging, and an open book. I'm so happy I made the decision to go. I have already benefited so much from her and all her knowledge. Thank you Cheryl!

We had a free shooting portion to the workshop. There were so many models to work with. I was able to implement what I had learned. The models were fabulous! Not to mention Cheryl and here sweet babe (first photo below).... beautiful!

A Fun Family Session

This is a recent session with some family friends of ours. The "D" family has two adorable, lively girls, "K" and "C". We started the shoot with bubbles and ended with chalk. I had so much fun shooting "K", as she was such a great little poser. I love "C's" bright eyes, I couldn't get enough of them. Thanks "D" family for such a fun session!

Beach trip

At the end of May we went to the beach with some great friends. It was a blast! Our kids played so well together and we all had a ton of fun. We decided this should be an annual event. On our last day, literally 1 hour before leaving, we decided to get some family photos. We had planned on doing these sessions but between the weather and kids, we waited till the last hour. It was so worth it!

The "R" family has 3 lively little girls and they were a balst to photograph. The girls kept asking to run down the sand dune. Once we felt we got all the other shots done, they were off.

I love these photos of Mom and kids. This is the "L" family. I need to appologize to Dad "L" for not including him in the post but Mom and kids totally trumped. I just love the emotion in these.

I love seeing them every time they come to me for portraits. And, nothing is more exciting then to see these wonderful babies and kids grow. A mother's day surprise...

Back in May, one of my friend's husband emailed me to set up a photoshoot. He wanted to surprise his wife for Mother's day with a session of him with the kids. How sweet and thoughtful is that?!?! The Mom is one of my dear friends that I met at Mom's group at Legacy hospital. Our little girls are only 6 days apart. Isn't she a doll! I was so excited to do this session knowing is was a wonderful surprise for my friend.

I believe there are no coincidences in this world. Everything that is meant to happen, happens; and everyone you are supposed to meet, you will meet when the time is right. That has never been more true than with my friend Darcie. I met Darcie when I was looking for someone to photograph my family a year ago this September. I had been doing photography for about 6 months by that time and had just made the decision to make a business out of it. We quickly learned that we could help eachother out. I needed a photography teacher and she needed marketing advice. It was a perfect trade. Over the last year she has become one of my dearest friends. She is warm, accepting, and without judgement. Not only has she been a great friend, but a wonderful mentor as well. Thank you Darcie.

I was honored when Darcie asked me to be her photographer on two recent occacions: "A day in the life session" with her son, and a portrait session for her website.

They got ice cream, took a ride on the merry-go-round, and read books at the library. Here's a small glimpse of that time.... joyful!

Darcie's website sersies... We went to the water fountain in Ester Short Park and the Hilton accross the street. I loved the colors in the Hilton and the water gave great ambiance. This was a blast to shoot and ...... what a betty!

It has been way too long since I last posted... wow! Summertime is a busy time and full of many adventures. We have had our share. Sitka, AK
In the middle of May we traveled to Sitka to visit my parents and do a little fishing. One of the most beautiful places on earth. I grew up, fortunate enough, spending my summers in Alaska. My parents still operate their fishing business there and we get to come up every year to visit. If you ever have the chance to see the last frontier, I highly recommend it! We hit the weather perfect, it was sunny and gorgeous but freezing, to the bone, out on that boat.

I met with a group of wonderful and amazing photographers for a day of shooting in Portland. We all photographed 2 little girls and each other. It was so much fun getting to know these fabulous ladies and having the opportunity to be inspired by them. I had a blast shooting in all natural light and I can't wait for good weather so I can get outside. I love shooting outdoors, it's my new obsession. Enjoy!
